Creating a Synthetic Filesystem Backup Destination

  1. Go to Backup Destinations → File System.

  2. Click Create Backup Destination → File System (Synthetic).

  3. Configure the destination as described for a regular filesystem backup destination.

  4. Select XFS as the Storage Backend.

  5. Specify the destination path and save the configuration.

Important: The destination path must reside on an XFS filesystem. Selecting XFS as the storage backend does not format or convert the underlying filesystem.
